There are wedding venues you work in.
And then there are wedding venues that become part of your story.
For me, Bloomfield House Hotel, Leisure Club & Spa is one of those places.
I was married in 2002, and not long afterwards I began photographing weddings at Bloomfield. More than twenty-three years later, I am still returning to its lakeside gardens, woodland walks, elegant reception rooms, and welcoming atmosphere. In many ways, I know every inch of the venue.
I have watched seasons change here thousands of times. I’ve photographed sunshine, mist, storms, golden evenings over Lough Ennell, and quiet moments between couples that could never be recreated.
A Photographer’s Playground
The image above perfectly captures one of the reasons I love Bloomfield so much.
Hidden among the trees, surrounded by rich woodland textures and shafts of warm light, a couple can feel as though they have stepped into their own private world.

What has always stood out to me about Bloomfield is not simply the setting.
It’s the people.
Over the years I have worked alongside wedding coordinators, managers, waiting staff, bar staff, and countless members of the Bloomfield team. Their professionalism, friendliness, and genuine care for couples have helped make every wedding day run smoothly.
Couples often remember how a venue made them feel long after the day is over.
Bloomfield has always excelled at creating that feeling of warmth and welcome. Its reputation has been built over decades of hosting weddings and celebrations, becoming one of the most established wedding venues in the Midlands.
A Place Filled With History
One of the reasons Bloomfield feels so unique is that it carries a fascinating history.
Originally established as a romantic house associated with the Bloomfield and Belvedere estates, the property has served many purposes over the centuries before becoming the hotel we know today. Its setting beside Lough Ennell and close connection to the historic Belvedere estate give it a sense of character that cannot be manufactured.
When couples choose Bloomfield, they are not simply booking a hotel.
They are becoming part of a story that stretches back generations.
Why I Keep Coming Back
After photographing weddings across Ireland for more than two decades, people often ask if I ever get tired of returning to the same venues.
The answer is simple.
No two weddings are ever the same.
Every couple brings their own story.
Every season paints the grounds differently.
Every wedding creates moments that have never happened before and will never happen again.
Bloomfield continues to inspire me because it provides the perfect stage for those moments.
Twenty-Three Years Later
Looking back, it feels fitting that one of my favourite local venues has remained such an important part of my photography journey.
From my own early years as a married man in 2002 to today, Bloomfield has been there throughout my career.
Thousands of photographs.
Hundreds of weddings.
Countless memories.
And every time I drive down the avenue and see the trees opening towards the lake, it still feels like coming home.
